Judy Wu — Fall/Winter 2018

Judy Wu’s ‘Women In Three Dimensions’ channels the female form, defined by fashion as art. This AW18 presentation illustrates the notion of craft as fashion and explores modernist concepts raised in Mondrian’s paintings. The fusion of design, geometric reconstructions, architecture and feminine ideals form Wu’s stunning expression of creativity.

The series is infused by 3-dimensional layers of burgundy, navy, scarlet, blush, gold and black, bringing emphasis to the contrast of tones crafted by block markings upon the designs. This directs our attention towards the structural properties of the garments, further accentuating the grounding of the work. Silk organza, tulle and chiffon subtly comment on the hybrid form of textures fused as one when combined with wool and faux fur overlays. This simultaneously enhances the feminine silhouettes that Wu incorporates into each collection.
